‘안녕’이라는 인사는 오묘합니다. ‘안녕’은 만남의 인사(Hello)이자 작별의 인사(Good bye)입니다. ‘안녕(Hello & Good bye), 코로나19’는 어떤 존재와의 뜻밖의 만남과 작별을 원하면서도 동행이 불가피한 코로나 판데믹 시대의 당혹스러운 삶의 풍경을 담은 공모전 및 전시입니다. 코로나 바이러스를 표현하는 두 컷의 일러스트(이전/이후)에는 코로나 바이러스의 출현 전후로 완전히 바뀌어 버린 삶의 풍경들이 압축되어 있으며, 거기에는 현재 인간문명의 불안과 희망이 아이러니컬하게 깃들어 있습니다.

It means ‘Hello’ and ‘Goodbye’ at the same time. ‘Hello & Good bye, Covid-19’ is a competition and exhibition containing the panicked landscape of life in the Covid Pandemic Era, in which an unexpected meeting and farewell to an entity is desired, but companionship is inevitable. In the two illustrations (before/after) expressing the coronavirus, the landscapes of life that have completely changed before and after the appearance of the coronavirus are compressed, and ironically, the anxiety and hope of the current human civilization are contained.

The Korean greeting “An-young” is mysterious. It means ‘Hello’ and ‘Goodbye’ at the same time. ‘Hello & Good bye, Covid-19’ is a competition and exhibition containing the panicked landscape of life in the Covid Pandemic Era, in which an unexpected meeting and farewell to an entity is desired, but companionship is inevitable. 이 공모전의 취지는 바이러스를 생화학적으로 묘사하려는 데에 있지 않습니다. 이제는 강력한 영향력을 통해 생활의 기본 조건이 되어버린 미지의 존재와 어떻게 조우하고 동행 할 것인가, 하는 질문을 위트 있게 던져보고 싶은 것입니다. 우리는 비가시적인 것의 가시화를 통해서, 사람들의 막연한 불안이 삶의 전체와 관련하여 존재들이 맺는 새로운 관계성에 대한 각성으로 전환되기를 소망합니다. 세계 여러 나라에서 들어온 응모작을 통해 지금 이 시점 인류의 공통된 불안과 희망을 동시에 만날 수 있는 것은 이 공모전 및 전시의 덤입니다.
The purpose of this competition is not to describe the virus biochemically. Now, we want to wittily ask the question of how to meet and accompany the unknown, which has become the basic condition of our life through its strong influence. We hope that through the visualization of the invisible, people’s vague anxiety will turn into an awakening of the new relationships that beings have in relation to the whole of life. It is the bonus of this competition and exhibition that you can meet the common anxiety and hope of mankind at this time through entries from various countries around the world.

Before Corona: 운석(meteorite)
코로나 판데믹은 개인에게 삶을 지속하는 새로운 방법을 찾게 한 동기가 되었다. 많은 것이 멈춘 지금, 개인은 자신의 위치에서 바뀐 세상에 대한 고민과 연구를 지속해 나간다. 이에 착안하여, 도래 전의 코로나바이러스는 충돌 직전의 고에너지 운석과 같은 형태로 표현했다. 이는 충돌의 힘으로 대상을 멈추게 함과 동시에, 새로운 움직임을 시작하게 한다.
Corona Pandemic inspired individuals to look for new ways to sustain their lives. Now that many things have stopped, individuals continue to worry and research about the world that has changed from their position. With this in mind, the coronavirus before it arrived was expressed in the form of a high-energy meteorite just before it collided. It stops the target with the force of a collision but at the same time starts a new movement.
After Corona: 원시 행성(protoplanet)
우리와 공존하는 코로나바이러스의 형상을 약동하는, 먼 곳에서 바라보면 멈추어 있으나 사실 가장 활동적으로 움직이는 원시 행성의 모습으로 표현했다. 충돌 후의 움직임으로 더 견고해지는 행성처럼, 새로운 고민을 지속하며 더욱 성장할 우리들의 모습을 형상화하였다.
I expressed the shape of the coronavirus that coexisted with us in the form of a primitive planet that stopped when viewed from a far distance, but actually moved most actively. I described our growth obtained by continuing research like a planet that becomes even more solid with post-impact movements.
